Internships

General Information

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office encourages exploration in the field of forensics. We are excited to offer internship opportunities for college students who are at least 18 years of age. Interns must secure a favorable background investigation and urine drug screen prior to beginning the internship. Those interested in careers in forensics may be interested in checking out The National Association of Medical Examiners Website and reading their document "So You Want to be a Medical Detective?"

FCCO Internships

We have recently expanded our educational offerings to include internships in the spring, summer, and fall of each calendar year! All internships are 12 weeks in length and are held at the Franklin County Forensic Science Center, but will also include opportunities for students to learn from many of our external partners throughout the community. Our office offers two internship tracks for students to choose from:

Office Rotation Internship
This internship allows successful applicants to rotate through 3 sections of our office, spending approximately 4 weeks in our InvestigationsMorgue, and Case Management sections, respectively. For a full position description for this internship, please click here.

Toxicology Internship
This internship allows successful applicants to gain experience in our state-of-the-art Toxicology laboratory. Meetings with the other sections at the Forensic Science Center can be arranged upon request. For a full position description for this internship, please click here.
