Forty-two Franklin County nonprofits will keep their funding another year, backed by nearly $5.8 million the Board of Commissioners approved in three separate votes on July 28.
Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 0527-26, extending $2.4 million to 20 nonprofits under the 2025 Community Partnerships grant program. They also approved Resolution 0528-26, extending $600,000 to two additional 2025 nonprofits, with Commissioner Kevin L. Boyce abstaining. A third vote, Resolution 0529-26, extended $2,843,555 to 20 nonprofits under the 2024 program, passing unanimously.
Dr. Curtis Brown, Community Partnerships Administrator, told commissioners that grantees under the 2025 cohort have met or exceeded their goals over the past year. One organization providing youth mentoring reported serving more than 500 young people, surpassing its target while expanding partnerships with schools, the YMCA, and local universities. Among the two nonprofits covered by the second extension, one focuses on preparing youth for employment, serving more than 250 young people, while the other builds creativity and educational engagement among participants.
The 2024 cohort has already served more than 69,200 residents in its second contract year and is projected to reach 138,400 residents by the time the year ends, Brown said.
Together, the three resolutions fund work across workforce development, youth mentoring, early childhood education, mental health services, housing support, and health education. Each grantee advances at least one goal under the Rise Together Blueprint's four priority areas of jobs, housing, health, and youth.
