DogVenture Day: Pups & Popsicles

This year we are bringing something new to our Clear the Shelters Month celebrations - Pups & Popsicles: DogVenture Day! 

On Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, join us at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center for a day of fun and non-stop tail wags

This family-friendly event gives you the chance to be a shelter dog’s adventure buddy for the day. We will provide everything you need, leash, harness, treats, and toys, so you can give a dog a much-needed break from the kennels.

Take them on a walk at the park, grab a coffee & pup cup, enjoy an afternoon patio hangout, or even stop by and visit a friend or family member while you are out. Whichever adventure you choose, it is guaranteed to be memorable. 

When you return to the shelter, you’ll fill out a short “report card” which will help us learn more about each dog’s unique personality, making it easier to match them with future adopters.

And don’t forget to grab a free popsicle, available for everyone all day long!

No RSVP or experience required. Must be 18+ to participate (or accompanied by an adult).

Whether you’re here for an adventure, to meet adoptable dogs, or stopping by just to say Hi & enjoy a sweet treat, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

DogVenture pickups start at 9:00 am and you can stop by anytime throughout the day - whatever fits your schedule. All dogs must be back at the shelter by 4:00 pm.
