Nutrition Counseling and Consultations

Nutrition counseling and nutrition consultations both involve working with a Registered Dietitian to support your health through personalized nutrition advice. The main difference lies in the depth and duration of support. Nutrition counseling is an ongoing, in-depth process focused on long-term behavior change and managing a wide range of health needs. In contrast, a nutrition consultation is typically a one-time or short-term session that offers immediate, targeted guidance on specific goals or concerns. Both approaches aim to help you make healthier choices, but counseling provides continued support, while consultations offer quick, focused advice.

Common reasons for meeting with a registered dietitian include: Finding a sustainable weight loss option, blood sugar control, wanting to improve relationship with food, lowering cholesterol, and improving energy among other things.

“These are not like visiting your doctor or other health care provider, rather, in a friendly environment, we’ll get to know more about your history and what you’d like to work on, together we’ll brainstorm strategies that work best for you and your lifestyle, making sure all your questions are answered and you feel confident on next steps.” - OhioHealth Registered Dietitian
