UnitedHealthcare Cancer Support
From screening and diagnosis to treatment and beyond, the Franklin County Cooperative’s benefits are here to support members through every stage of the cancer journey. UnitedHealthcare offers two dedicated programs focused on cancer resources and support, available to benefits-enrolled employees and their enrolled spouses, domestic partners, or dependents. Cancer Resource Services offers support right after a cancer diagnosis, helping you understand your condition, explore treatment options, and find the right providers. The Cancer Support Program gives ongoing help during treatment, with nurses trained in oncology to guide care, manage symptoms, and answer questions along the way.
For those not enrolled in the health plan and for extended family members, cancer support is still accessible through CancerBridge services.
Cancer Resource Services
Cancer Resource Services (CRS) provides personalized support to members newly diagnosed with cancer. This includes direct inbound access to specialized and experienced oncology nurses who help members understand their diagnosis and make informed decisions about second opinions, critical treatment options (including the availability of clinical trials), connections to available community resources, and education and direction to the most appropriate provider or facility for their diagnosis and stage of disease. Most often, members engage in one to two calls with a Cancer Resource Services nurse, and the nurse provides the option to call back at any time.
The key benefits provided by Cancer Resource Services include:
- Helping individuals make informed decisions about cancer care
- Providing oncology nurse expertise to support members and address immediate needs
- Connecting people with experts at cancer facilities in the cancer Center of Excellece (COEs) network or quality providers in the local community
Cancer Support Program
The UnitedHealthcare Cancer Support Program (CSP) provides compassionate guidance and answers for you or your family member who's faced with cancer.
How does it work? If you are preparing for cancer treatment or have already started cancer treatment, a nurse can help you navigate treatment options and find an in-network provider from a high-quality Centers of Excellence (COE) facility. You can expect the following when you engage with the Cancer Support Program:
- Connect with a nurse specially trained in oncology for support throughout your treatment journey.
- Get help exploring your options, finding answers to questions, and managing symptoms and side effects.
- Receive support working with your doctors, so you feel informed to make decisions for your health.
- Access digital tools to help provide real-time guidance and identify care needs immediately.
