Financial Assistance

It is recommended you complete our Financial Assistance Request Form and submit that form with the required documents to vsc.intake@franklincountyohio.gov.

The form is available below and can be picked up at Memorial Hall. We do have a drop box available for your request form and documents.

Walk In or Same Day Appointments for Financial Assistance and VA Claim work are not currently available.

  • Financial assistance is offered to eligible veterans who are facing an immediate, short-term financial need.
  • Application Review Timeline
    Once submitted, applications enter an intake cycle and may take up to three business days to be reviewed. After review, staff will contact you to discuss next steps.
  • In-Person Support
    You may request an in-person appointment to go over required documents or complete your application.
  • Stay Reachable
    Add our phone number (614-525-2500) to your contacts. If we can’t reach you, your request may be delayed or rescheduled.
  • One Request Per Month
    You may apply for financial assistance once every 30 days.
  • Commission Meetings
    If your request requires Commission approval, you must attend a Wednesday 9:00 AM meeting in person.
  • Needs-Based
    Each application is reviewed to confirm financial need. You must provide all required documents listed on our checklist. All applicants must complete an interview to verify eligibility.

Document Submission

Applicants are responsible for submitting all required documents. If additional documents are requested, your application will be scheduled for review after those documents are received. Please note: review does not occur on the same day documents are submitted.

Interview Topics

Every applicant must complete an interview, which includes questions about:

  • Current situation
  • Income sources
  • Monthly expenses and spending habits
  • How you plan to cover your expenses moving forward
  • Action taken on prior referrals, such as financial coaching, social worker assistance, job search assistance or logs and follow-up with referred agencies

The County requires an IRS W9 to make payments to a vendor. The following link will take you to the IRS web page for the most current form. The W-9 must be filled out or provided by the Vendor.
