Current & Recent Projects
North Hague Avenue
Project Location: The unincorporated area of land in Franklin Township along N. Hague Avenue, Trabue Road, Britton Avenue, and Cherokee Street
Project Scope: To install 7,065 linear feet (LF) of sanitary sewer gravity main, 84 wyes, and 32 manholes. Resurfacing of roadways in affected areas.
Need for Project:
- As part of its Water Quality Partnership program, the County has identified several existing neighborhoods in the County where residents currently rely on Home Sewage Treatment Systems (HSTS) for sewage treatment and disposal. The goal of the County is to provide centralized sanitary sewer service to these neighborhoods to eliminate reliance upon HSTS’s and eliminate unsanitary conditions.
- The N. Hague Avenue service area within Franklin Township is one such area identified as needing centralized sanitary sewer service.
Project Schedule:
- Construction of the project is scheduled to start March 31, 2025.
- Project completion is anticipated to be late February 2026.
Project Cost Estimate:
- Design – $414,366.75
- Construction Administration/Construction Inspection – $280,531.20
- Construction – $5,362,175.70
- TOTAL PROJECT COST – $6,057,073.65
Project Funding:
- Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering has secured funding for construction from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund and from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
- Additionally, funding for the Financial Assistance Program was secured from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund.

Inah-Gladys Sewer
Project Location: The area of land in unincorporated Prairie Township on the east side of Inah Avenue and the west side of Gladys Road north of Owen Steet and south of West Broad Street. (see map on back ).
Project Scope: To install 3,330 linear feet (LF) of new 8-in sanitary sewer gravity main, 590 LF of laterals, 13 manholes, and 29 lateral connections. Resurfacing of roadways in affected areas.
Need for Project:
- Only section of the County’s Sanitary District No. 4 service area that does not have access to sanitary sewer.
- Aging onsite treatment systems and improperly functioning aeration systems discharge raw sewage into storm sewers and waterways, impacting human health and water quality of surrounding creeks/streams/rivers and aquifers.
Project Schedule:
- Construction of the project is anticipated to take approximately 5 months.
- Project completion estimated to be completely by the end of 2024
Project Cost Estimate:
- Design – $103,784.98
- Construction Administration/Construction Inspection – $117,890.52
- Construction – $1,655,170.00
- TOTAL PROJECT COST – $1,876,845.50
Project Funding:
- Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering has secured funding for construction from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund and from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
- Additionally, funding for the Financial Assistance Program was secured from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund.
Kanawha-Rosslyn Sewer
Project Location: The unincorporated area of land in Sharon Township along Rosslyn Avenue, W. Kanawha Avenue, Westview Avenue, Olentangy Boulevard, and Riverside Drive.
Project Scope: To install 4,900 linear feet (LF) of sanitary sewer main, 3,400 LF of sanitary sewer laterals, construction of a pump station, and repavement of the streets following construction.
Need for Project:
-
In July 1992 Franklin County Public Health identified 24 areas within Franklin County that were in need of public sanitary sewer service.
-
Kanawha Rosslyn is one of these areas identified, and one of the last remaining unsewered areas.
Project Schedule:
- Construction of the project was scheduled to start February 2024.
- Project completion is anticipated to be mid 2025
Project Cost Estimate:
- Construction Administration/Construction Inspection – $7,828,189
Project Funding:
- Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering has secured funding for construction from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund and from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
- Additionally, funding for the Financial Assistance Program was secured from Ohio Environment Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund.
South Grener Avenue Sewer
Project Location:
Located in Prairie Township, along South Grener Avenue.
Need for Project:
As part of Franklin County Sanitary Engineering's Sewer Condition Assessment project it was found that the sanitary sewer line that ran along S. Grener is structurally deficient. The main was identified in 2015 to be in need of lining. When we went to line in 2020, the condition of the main had deteriorated to point where it could not be successfully lined. It was removed from that project and made its own project.
Project Scope:
Franklin County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering, is replacing approximately 812 LF of aging 15-in sanitary sewer and 40 LF of 8-in sanitary sewer with new 15-in and 8-in sanitary sewer, respectively, including all manholes, on South Grener Avenue near Stiles Drive in Prairie Township. Additionally, the project includes the transfer of approximately 12 existing sanitary sewer laterals to the proposed sewer. Roadway restoration will include full-width planing and resurfacing of approximately 1,925 SY of asphalt.
