Current & Recent Projects

North Hague Avenue

north hague project.jpg

Project Location: The unincorporated area of land in Franklin Township along N. Hague Avenue, Trabue Road, Britton Avenue, and Cherokee Street

Project Scope:  To install 7,065 linear feet (LF) of sanitary sewer gravity main, 84 wyes, and 32 manholes. Resurfacing of roadways in affected areas.

Need for Project:

  • As part of its Water Quality Partnership program, the County has identified several existing neighborhoods in the County where residents currently rely on Home Sewage Treatment Systems (HSTS) for sewage treatment and disposal. The goal of the County is to provide centralized sanitary sewer service to these neighborhoods to eliminate reliance upon HSTS’s and eliminate unsanitary conditions.
  • The N. Hague Avenue service area within Franklin Township is one such area identified as needing centralized sanitary sewer service.

Project Schedule:

  • Construction of the project is scheduled to start March 31, 2025.
  • Project completion is anticipated to be late February 2026.

  Project Cost Estimate:

  •  Design – $414,366.75
  •   Construction Administration/Construction Inspection – $280,531.20
  • Construction – $5,362,175.70
  • TOTAL PROJECT COST – $6,057,073.65

Need for Project:

  • Only section of the County’s Sanitary District No. 4 service area that does not have access to sanitary sewer.

Need for Project:

  • In July 1992 Franklin County Public Health identified 24 areas within Franklin County that were in need of public sanitary sewer service.

  •  Kanawha Rosslyn is one of these areas identified, and one of the last remaining unsewered areas.

Project Schedule:

South Grener Avenue Sewer

processed-9E9F0064-E8C7-4FDF-BA6D-ABBB80D4EE28.jpegProject Location:

Located in Prairie Township, along South Grener Avenue.

Need for Project:

As part of Franklin County Sanitary Engineering's Sewer Condition Assessment project it was found that the sanitary sewer line that ran along S. Grener is structurally deficient. The main was identified in 2015 to be in need of lining. When we went to line in 2020, the condition of the main had deteriorated to point where it could not be successfully lined. It was removed from that project and made its own project.

Project Scope:

Franklin County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering, is replacing approximately 812 LF of aging 15-in sanitary sewer and 40 LF of 8-in sanitary sewer with new 15-in and 8-in sanitary sewer, respectively, including all manholes, on South Grener Avenue near Stiles Drive in Prairie Township. Additionally, the project includes the transfer of approximately 12 existing sanitary sewer laterals to the proposed sewer. Roadway restoration will include full-width planing and resurfacing of approximately 1,925 SY of asphalt.
